- Recipe inspired by the original recipe from the book “One Pot”, recipe called “Linguine with Tomato & Basil”
- at least 4 servings
- Total: less than 30min — Prep: 15min

- Primary Lesson…? Yes, it is possible to prepare a pasta dish while combining all ingredients all at once into one pot. Timing is important, but not critical. Our noodles were a little undercooked because our water evaporated too quickly and we just assumed that the dish was done… we should have added a little more water to continue cooking the noodles.
- Will we do this again? Yes. It has always been a habit to drain the water. This recipe is nice because it can simplify the recipe (once you get the technique down) while reducing the waste that you create in the kitchen (water dumped down the drain).
- Main advantage? The used cookware in the sink afterwords was surprisingly small. The lazy cooks (us) really love when a recipe creates little clean up work afterwords.
- Main disadvantage? Guessing how to adjust the quantity of water to the type of pasta. Use common sense: if the pasta is bigger than a linguine (our case for this experiment), use more water to ensure proper cooking of the pasta. The water was gone before we had completely finished cooking our thicker than linguine noodles; you can get away with this by adding a cup or so of water to continue cooking if the noodles haven’t softened up enough.
- This recipe is part of another project of ours, the 195 Challenge: cook one recipe inspired by various regions in the world. This is recipe #13/195.
